bulletSoldiers Memorial Unveiled

On Wednesday afternoon, May 2, 2007, at the campus plaza, LU officials unveiled the long awaited Soldiers Memorial .  The memorial is a bronze testament to the university's founders--displaying the soldiers of the 62nd and 65th Colored Infantries laying down their weapons, picking up books and lifting up each other to a pillar of education.

bullet2007 Founders' Day Celebration
In a mid-day luncheon on Saturday, February 24th at the Victoria Falls Resorts Club in Laurel, MD, over forty five Chapter members and their guests celebrated LU Founders Day and kicked off the Chapter's 2007 Annual Giving Fund Campaign--"A Legacy of Giving."  The program included a delicious buffet, entertainment by Chapter member Leo Pickett, a display of LU yearbooks and scrapbooks, and featured LU alumni guest speakers from the various decades beginning with the 1940s who shared their LU memories.  The program was video taped by a professional videographer for presentation to the University.  DVD copies also will be made available to Chapter members for purchase.  The Chapter picture for 2007 also was taken at this event.  Donations of $25 per person were requested  to cover the costs.  Chapter members wishing to make a donation should send their checks to our treasurer, Ernest Harris, 5009 14th Street, NE, Washington, DC 20017, payable to "Lincoln University Alumni - Washington, DC Chapter."  Pictures from the event are shown below.
