James R. (Bobby) Egins is a native of Columbus, Georgia and attended Spencer High School.  Bobby was more into athletics than other pursuits in high school, playing football, baseball and track.  After accepting a scholarship in football from Lincoln University in 1954, he matriculated there the next four years.  He became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity in the spring of 1956 and received his degree in Health and Physical Education in 1958.

 

After graduation from Lincoln, he began his teaching in his hometown of Columbus, Georgia and taught there until 1964 when he moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Bobby taught in the Philadelphia school system for twenty-five years and retired in 1991.  Bobby retired as the Department Head of Health and Physical Education and Athletic Director at Germantown High School.  He earned a Masters Degree from Temple University.  He also coached football and basketball at Olney High, William Penn High and Bok Vocational High School during his educational career in Philadelphia.

Bobby is married to Margaret Louise (Webb) Egins and they have two daughters and one son.  His son, James, Jr. lives in Irving, Texas, and daughter, Michelle and Lanette live in Laurel and Bowie, Maryland respectively.  He also has a daughter, Jan V. Egins from a previous marriage, who lives in Atlanta, Georgia and has a degree from the University of Georgia in Veterinary Medicine.

Bobby makes his home in Laurel, Maryland and is a member of the First Baptist Church of Laurel.  He is enjoying his retirement and does some substitute teaching in the Washington, D.C. school system.
